TreeCharge Teilvorhaben "NMR-basierte Struktur-Eigenschaftsaufklärung von Material & Elektroden für Na-Ion-Batterie"
Thüringer Aufbaubank (TAB) 03/2027 - 06/2029. Status: accepted
In the TreeCharge project, we are working with partners from Thuringia to develop sustainable sodium-ion batteries for mobile and stationary applications. The anodes are made from lignin, a residue of the wood industry. The goal is a closed value chain in Thuringia and the EU.
At ePROBE, we are contributing our expertise in battery analysis, in particular NMR spectroscopy. It lets us see how the materials behave at the atomic level, helping the consortium improve them in a targeted way. Together, we are taking the technology from the 1 Ah cell to a demonstrator battery with its own battery management system (BMS).
Development of a high-pressure operando NMR probe
Thüringer Aufbaubank (TAB) 02/2025 - 01/2027
The aim of this project is the development an operando probe-head that allows NMR measurements while holding an energy storage material under high pressure and simultaneously performing an electrochemical process with the material, e.g. dis-/charge. This allows insights into the physicochemical processes inside these materials at the smallest particle level with local resolution. These measurements are particularly important for the improvement of cathodes in solid-state batteries and so-called solid-state electrolytes and have not been possible in this way up to now.
Durch dieses Projekt wird im Zeitraum 01.02.2025 bis 31.01.2027 die Arbeit von Dr. Björn Wankmiller durch Zuwendung aus Landesmitteln und aus Mitteln des Europäischen Sozialfonds Plus (ESF+) zur Umsetzung des Programms Europäischer Sozialfonds Plus im Freistaat Thüringen im Förderzeitraum 2021 bis 2027 gefördert.
Operando NMR probe for electrochemical processes and optical excitation
Thüringer Aufbaubank (TAB) 02/2025 - 01/2027
The goal of this project is to develop an operando NMR probe that enables NMR measurements during simultaneous electrochemical analysis and optical excitation of materials. This innovation will provide insights at the nanoscale level in optoelectronic materials (e.g. photovoltaics) and energy storage systems (e.g. batteries and capacitors). The photoactive components can thus be better understood and their performance improved.
